The Vvaan: Force of the Forrest Review: Is It Worth Watching?
The Vvaan: Force of the Forrest takes a different approach from conventional Bollywood action movies. Instead of focusing only on crime or romance, the film explores Indian folklore, supernatural beliefs and the relationship between people and the natural world.
Sidharth Malhotra plays Rishi, a rational city dweller whose return to his ancestral village changes his understanding of the world around him. Tamannaah Bhatia plays an important role in the story, while the supporting cast helps build the film’s village setting and supernatural atmosphere.
The biggest strength of the movie is its central idea. A forbidden forest, an ancient legend and a powerful supernatural presence provide the foundation for a mystery that gradually unfolds.
However, the execution has divided critics. Some reviewers have appreciated the film’s ambition and its attempt to combine folklore with fantasy. Others have criticised the screenplay for introducing too many ideas and failing to develop them consistently.
Our verdict: The Vvaan: Force of the Forrest may appeal to viewers who enjoy Indian mythology, supernatural mysteries and unusual fantasy stories. However, those expecting a tightly written thriller should check the mixed critic reviews before booking tickets.

The Vvaan: Force of the Forrest Story
The story centres on Rishi, a rational man from the city who returns to his ancestral village in Bihar to sell inherited land.
His plans change when he encounters an old legend connected to Vandevi and a forbidden forest. The forest is surrounded by traditions and warnings that the villagers take seriously, but Rishi initially approaches the situation with a practical mindset.
As greed threatens the jungle and an ancient supernatural force awakens, Rishi finds himself caught between belief and disbelief. He must confront powers beyond ordinary understanding and protect the people of his ancestral village.
The film combines elements of folklore, mythology, adventure and supernatural mystery. Its central conflict explores whether ancient beliefs are merely stories or whether they conceal something much more powerful.
To avoid spoilers, viewers should experience the major revelations on screen rather than read detailed plot explanations beforehand.
The Vvaan: Force of the Forrest Cast
The film features a mix of established Bollywood actors and supporting performers.
- Sidharth Malhotra as Rishi: The central character whose return to his ancestral village sets the story in motion.
- Tamannaah Bhatia as Mamta: An important character connected to the unfolding events.
- Sunil Grover as Deepak: Part of the supporting cast.
- Shweta Tiwari as Sushila: A character within the village’s story.
- Anup Soni as Shashi Bhaiya: One of the important supporting characters.
- Maniesh Paul: Appears in a supporting role.
- Avtar Gill: Part of the ensemble cast.

Direction and Storytelling
The film is directed by Deepak Kumar Mishra and Arunabh Kumar. Arunabh Kumar is also credited as a writer.
The filmmakers attempt to create a fantasy world rooted in Indian folklore rather than relying entirely on familiar Western supernatural tropes. The story uses a forbidden forest, ancestral traditions and the figure of Vandevi to create a distinct setting.
This approach gives the movie an interesting foundation. However, several critics have felt that the screenplay struggles to balance its different themes and plot developments.
For viewers interested in mythology-based Hindi cinema, the film offers a different concept. Its effectiveness will largely depend on how much they enjoy the folklore, fantasy and supernatural elements.

Why Is The Vvaan: Force of the Forrest Different from Other Bollywood Movies?
The movie attempts to combine Indian folklore with a modern supernatural adventure. Rather than building its entire story around a familiar romantic or crime-drama formula, it places a forbidden forest and an ancient legend at the centre of the narrative.
Its main distinguishing features include:
- Indian folklore and supernatural mythology.
- A story set around an ancestral village in Bihar.
- A conflict between rational thinking and traditional beliefs.
- Fantasy, adventure, mystery and thriller elements.
- Sidharth Malhotra in a role shaped by supernatural events.
The concept makes the movie an interesting choice for viewers looking for something different from mainstream Bollywood action films, even though the critical response has been divided.
